“Paisa jyada banana hai ya jaldi banana hai?”
— Basant Maheshwari

The Philosophy

Six Pillars of Basant's Thinking

Distilled from 32 years of investing, a bestselling book, and hundreds of public talks.

Growth Over Value

“Never buy a stock unless you see 10x potential. If you target 50%, you risk 30%; if you target 1000%, your mistakes still yield 200%.”

Sector Leaders Only

“Never invest in #2 or #3 in a sector. The leader captures disproportionate value over time.”

Quality Filter

“RoE above 30% plus a regular dividend — that combination is a sign of honest, competent management.”

Concentrated Portfolio

“3-5 stocks with conviction beats 50 stocks with hope. 33% in one 10-bagger quadruples your portfolio.”

Long Horizon

“Lazy in taking profits, agile in cutting losses. Patience is the single most underrated edge in investing.”

Avoid Leverage

“Buy on borrowed money beats buy on borrowed conviction. Leverage is the only thing that can permanently destroy wealth.”

Basant Maheshwari
“Paisa jyada banana hai ya jaldi banana hai?”

Basant Maheshwari is an Indian investor, author, and fund manager known for his growth-focused investment philosophy. Born into a Marwadi family in Rajasthan and raised in Kolkata, he discovered his passion for markets as a child visiting the Calcutta Stock Exchange with his broker uncle.

After surviving the devastating 2000 tech crash — where he lost his entire fortune to leverage — he rebuilt from scratch with an iron-clad philosophy: buy quality growth businesses, concentrate your portfolio, and never use borrowed money. This framework produced some of India's most celebrated multibagger picks.
